Folbot sporty transverse frames alternate materials?

Post by TBW »

I am needing to replace the transverse frames on my Folbot Sporty. At first I was thinking Okoume or Merenti. But I wonder if there is a rot resistant synthetic that would work? Not sure what. Any ideas?

Because I have the tools and experience, I would also use wood, perhaps sandwiched between thin fiberglass. I think the frames are polycarbonate, which can be bought in sheets and cut. But it's expensive. Let us know what you decide.

Wood saturated with epoxy would be my choice.
