Tips for paddling in Lake Tahoe

A friend invited me to join her for a week in a time share she swapped for at North Lake Tahoe the second week of May. I've never been there (nor has she) but always wanted to check it out. I'm planning to bring my Feathercraft Wisper and Pakboat Quest 135 and gear for us to be able to kayak -- we'll be staying right on the water. I'm an experienced intermediate paddler (can self rescue but can't roll -- have inner ear damage vertigo issues) but my friend is an enthusiastic novice with some rough water experience.

I'm hoping to hear from some folks on here who have visited and paddled at Tahoe for suggestions on outings both on the water and ashore (including hiking trails with good vistas and cool places to eat and socialize.) We know the water will be cold and plan to take dry suits.

Make sure you get Tsunami Chuck's attention-- he knows it well.
