The Isles of Scilly are approximatly 28 miles west south west of Lands End which is at the tip of Cornwall in the UK. A small number of kayakers have paddled from Sennen Cove to the islands with a launch escort. Do not try this unless you are VERY experienced. Most kayakers take their boats over to the islands on the ferry Scillonian 3, i don,t know the cost. There are of course plenty of B&Bs and hotels. Camping is restricted to four islands, and you HAVE to camp at the official sites These are on St Marys, (the main and largest island), St Agnes the most westerly, Bryher and St Martins. St Martins is possibly the best as it is close to Tresco(NO camping) but it can be paddled or sailed to, then there is the Eastern islands and of course it is possible to easily paddle over to St Marys. St Marys being the largest with about 9 miles of paved roads with numerous unpaved which are like farm tracks. this island is about 2.5 sq miles in area. There are 3 pubs and not much "night life" The other islands have one pub on each island. For groceries if you are camping there is one grocers on St Marys, the Co-op, a Deli, and a smaller shop on each of the other islands But as booking in advance should be made the camp site owners will advise of what is available on St Agnes, Bryher, and St Martins, also ask about fuel for stoves, open fires may not be allowed and you would have to buy wood. You can catch fish for free from the sea. The weather, this is the UK and it do,s rain, somtimes, there can be sea "fog" wet or dry, The weather fronts get here first when coming from the west. Because of the sea it is cooler than the maimland, as the UK is called, and a wind from the north can be cold. There is plenty of info on line or on paper which the tourist info office will send. If anyone comes to the islands i don,t think you will be disapointed unless it rains or you experience a gale'.
