I got my first 17' Folbot in the mid 70s while stationed in them West Germany .
Would take it to a rail station near a river and take the train upstream to another that was close.
Assemble and head down. The EX didn't like paddling.

Brought it home.

Have 2 now. One doesn't fold. Bought it used.

The other is aluminum frame with wooden ends.

One Lanteen style sail kit.

Lookiug for a Runabout or Square Stern in my spare time. But that is a hobby on its own.

My first folder was a 1960s Square Stern - tore my knuckles assembling it. My wife hated it, but it fit in the trunk of my old Volvo 740 sedan.

That would be sweet.
I started in canoes.
When you have young ones and a long way to paddle......a motor is the key.

And now that I am older now so sometimes I would like a motor.

Working on a set of pars now. Compound so I can see where I'm going.

And in recent looking I found one but missed it by a week. Right near a friends place in Ohio.

It's a hobby.

For now I'm looking at making a catamaran from my 2 Folbots.

Jabezkin: We should talk. I'm in Pittsburgh and I have a really well constructed home-made kayak catamaran setup that I bought a few years ago from the engineer who built it. At the time I had a boyfriend with a plastic touring kayak the same model and size (15') as my own so we could use those boats with it, but we broke up shortly thereafter and I don't have two hard shells anymore and have been considering getting rid of it -- I'm not as much interested in sailing as he was.

The frame is made of treated lumber heavily sealed with marine spar varnish and has a central platform that the inventor rigged from a carbon fiber operating room table! (he was the building superintendent for a large hospital and had access to interesting materials). There is a very sturdy metal mast and large nylon lateen-like sail, a substantial rudder made of marine plywood and a pair of outrigger skegs. All meticulously finished and fitted out with marine fittings -- the H shaped wood frame lashes to a pair of kayaks with long nylon straps. Makes for quite a rig -- you could use it as is or re-work the components to adapt as you wanted.
