Hello from Mallorca, Spain

Post by MallorcaRaul »

I am interested to start a new sport wich I can practice in Mallorca and traveling. I think Kayak is a good option.
At the moment I am reading about folding kayaks.
Sorry for mistakes, I don't write very well in English.

Hello,
Welcome to the forum.
There is a very good book called "Complete Folding Kayaker" by Ralph Diaz, 2nd Edition from 2003.
This is a very good source of information.
On the American Amazon Website it is here:
https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Folding ... 9D12R4QZ0B

I tried to find it on the Amazon Website in the UK, but they only had the 1st edition. the 2nd edition is much better with more recent information. You can buy it as a "Kindle" digital book that also works with other digital readers.

Also, here is a very good website from the UK: (the Safety section is very good reading.)
https://www.kayarchy.com/html/01equipme ... dingkayaks

For "Folbot" this is a good website where he has links to the production timeline over the years which would be helpful in knowing what was built when. Also he has the owners manuals for the different models on their you can download

This is another book which is not exactly the most enjoyable reading because it is about people who died kayaking. The reason it is good reading is because it is about being safe on the water. It is a collection of reported incidents and what the kayaker did that or more importantly, what the kayaker did not do to prepare for being on the water. In this regard you can learn a lot about staying alive in a unforgiving environment if you just use the information as it is given.
"Sea Kayaker's Deep Trouble": True Stories and Their Lessons from Sea Kayaker Magazine Paperback – May 22, 1997

Let us know how your getting along with getting into the lifestyle! It's fun.
"Yakadoodle" ...I had to come up with some name since Steve already stole my name!
