Blandford folder recomendations

Hello,

I have a possibly misguided itch to build one of Percey Blandfords folding designs and, as steriods have not helped, may work on it this winter.

Currently I have the plans for the PBK 12 at 12.5 feet and the PBK 24 at 11 feet.

Does anyone out there have an informed opinion as to whether the shorter boat would be suitable for a 195 pound 5' 10" paddler or whether I should go for the longer one?

Are there other of his designs that I should consider instead?

Regards,
John

Hello,

Sorry for the tardy reply. The PBK-24 is in a book I have called "Canoes and Canoeing" by the designer, Percy Blandford. (I have a monster nautical library including several of his books) You find this available on the used book sites for rather more than I would pay. Mostly these are coming out of public libraries. Last I saw in another post on this book there were still a few available on inter-library loan. (I borrowed and read a rare book on radios this way that came from a library accross the country and, according to the card, had last been taken out in the 40's!)

The PBK-12 plan is available from Clark Craft as their BK-12 plan. Look them up on your favorite search engine. They also have a tandem version available called the BK-19, I believe.

Regards,
John
