Has anyonne built a tandem folder/inflatable?

Post by overland »

I'm considering whether to build a tandem. Has anyone built a tandem Sonnet by Tom Yost, or the Victoria Patagonica? Percey Blandford's tandem (plans sold by Clark Craft)? I'd love to hear from you if you have.

The Klepper frames can be found pretty cheaply. You might consider getting one of those and then building a new hull-- that might save you a lot of time.

What would you use for the hull?

I would use Yost's methods and make the hull out of PVC. You were talking about building from scratch, but then you mentioned the Patagonica. The Sonnet is a far sleeker boat, but the Patagonica is essentially a Klepper knock-off. Long Haul is also essantially a Klepper, though with upgraded hardware.
