in case that there are no infos about yost's falco with ply-bottom I tried to develop/find a pattern.

First I tried an oru-pattern resized to 17'. but the material of the 1:2model was too stressed.
Then I tried an old pattern of mine. It worked.

the sideview (height of bow and stern should be reduced a bit, keel also?)

the ply will be parted at the yellow stripes. I found a solution for closing the gaps. this solution stiffens also the hull.

only 2 beams:

The model is made of crinkled cardboard

fertoe is the hungarion name of lake Neusiedl near Vienna, my estuary

dimensions of this boat which follows a hybrid-concept( CANoekayAK):
length: 510 cm
width: 65 cm
displ: 160 kg
weight: < 18 kg

transportdimensions: 130*55*15 cm ( if 3 parted)

Great use of heavy duty cardboard for the model. Good luck with this and let us know how it goes!

the biggest problem is to find a cement to glue on fabrics on ply.
hh66 is not availible in austria :(
importing from US forces very high transport costs :( :( :(

ps: i like to work with cardboard. you recognize very quickly stresspoints and stressaerea. the cardboard starts to fold *lol*

You'll need to find a local source of industrial shoe glue, which is essentially what h66 is. Check it has the same heat curing characteristics of course. This is what I did when I was still in Italy, but I can't remember the details I'm afraid

I tested during the last month different glues

the best solution (for germans and austrians) and my recommendation:
- paint the ply with boatvanish
- sand the vanish
- use "tarpo-s"

the resultat is better than "HH66" which I got via amazon(GB)

an other solution is using "technicol 8044" (ply prepared with thined glue)

using other cements you can peel the pvc like a orange zest

Thanks for this, Hannes. Is tarpo-s basically the same chemical as HH66, do you think? I've used the latter, which as you say is available in the UK. But I've only used it for gluing PVC to PVC. Not to wood.
Very interested to see your plans and how they develop. I think the Falco concept and its derivatives is a very interesting one.
All the best,
Ian

I do not know. the resultat is the same.

at the moment I do not have the time to build the falco oncept, because I prepare a longer trip with my T9 (3 month ionic islands/greece) april>june 2017.
I have to repaint the wooden parts, check the skin, seq a seasock, install a selfsewdflatearthsail and complete the safty equipement

the falco-spinoff is planned for summer 2017. maybe the falco-spinoff will become a shunting outrigger *g*. the scribbles are done. sail will be a gibbons.
similar to http://www.tacking-outrigger.com/kir3.GIF but foldable
