Has anyone used a ZPacks tarp to shelter the campsite when raining?
I'm looking to get a couple of the large size tarps for next year. But before going ahead with the purchase I was hopeing to read some feedback. At $275 + shipping + exchance rate + everything else, I want to make sure I will not be wasting my money. These tarps are about a quarter the weight and more than double the price of a regular tarp.

Zpacks has an excellent reputation in the backpacking community. Their equipment is at the bleeding edge of ultralight, though, and I'm not sure their strengths warrant the cost in the context of boating.

My question was regarding using the tarps while camping, not paddling. It wouldn'd make any difference if the tarps come out of a drybag or a backpack. The intent of covering the camping area is the same. Besides, minimalist backpackers tend to be more frugal than kayakers.

I'm not much into tarp camping but I recently bought a 'footprint' for my Big Agnes tent that didn't cost nearly as much as these. Of course the footprint is smaller but it's totally waterproof and super light... I guess I'm just thinking there must be other options that aren't quite as expensive? I slept out last night (-3.4ºf) and need to pack up the tent today... I'll measure the footprint for the goof. Packs up super small as well.
