I've been corresponding with a gentleman in the U.K. by the name of Bill Hammond who has asked me to help him sell his Tyne Sprite. He tells me that he's approaching his 80th birthday and has promised his wife he'd downsize his collection of things he no longer uses, including the Tyne.

He describes the boat as a "double canoe," by which I believe he means a double kayak, using the British terminology (what we call a canoe in North America is a Canadian canoe across the ocean). He will communicate by email but prefers to use the phone. He doesn't have a price in mind, and I get the impression he's not really able to ship. Rather than publish his phone number on line, I'm asking that those seriously interested in the boat who would be willing to travel there to look at it contact me, and I'll pass on Bill's contact information.

Hi Michael,
I might be able to help. I probably oughtn't to take on any more projects myself (I have a few old folders, including Tynes in my 'to do' list), but I live close to Essex (grew up there and my mother and brother still live there) and also know the head of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association here in the UK, and between us we ought to be able to find someone willing to take this on, depending on state of the boat. Judging by the state of the Tynes I've come across before I would expect the skin to no longer be useable but I could go and check it out, if that would be of help.
Let me know if I can help.
All the best,
Ian
(I'll be away on holiday this coming week so unlikely to be able to check it out before early September.)
