Has anyone had any luck getting replacement parts from Pouch or Pouchboats? I need a new Spannt 3 (rib 3) for my E-65. Originally I thought I would just make a replacement, but I see they are available from Pouch in Germany for a reasonable price. Pity I can't get a response from anyone at either site ...

Yours is obviously a very old post, but have you been in touch with Ralph Hoehn? He is the US distributor for Pouch.

Hah, funny you should ask ...

Actually, I ended up going to Germany on family business a little later and managed to have Pouch (I called them directly while in Germany) ship the Spannt to my house outside of Frankfurt before I had to return to the states. Saved me a lot of money in international shipping costs, which are quite ridiculous these days.

Glad to hear that it worked out. Ralph should be able to help you in the future, if you have need.

Sorry, I didn't address that point in the previous post ... I did contact Ralph and he was willing to help, the sticking point was the cost of shipping the Spannt from Germany. If I recall correctly, shipping that light part was approx 2x the cost of the part itself!

I don't know what is going on with shipping these days as it could not have been so expensive in the past. My relatives in Germany shipped us "care packages" for Christmas, Easter, and birthdays and I don't think they would have paid those costs for chocolates, small toys, and the odd item of clothing. Back in the '60s and '70s it all went by ship, but in later years it was air mail.

Cheers,

Barry

You can still send things by ship, it just takes a couple of months. It is much cheaper. It might have to do with the rise of UPS, DHL, etc. The postal service has always given more options, to my understanding.
