Hey All,

I was hoping some of you would be able to help me identify the model of a Folbot Canoe/Kayak my father gave me (please see the attached photos). I talked with a someone who thought it was "Folbot Super", its about 17 ft long so i'm guessing its a Super 17? Anyway all i really need to know is what material to use to replace the skin and what type of wood should be used to replace the broken pieces of the skeleton. If there is a place you know of that has these parts, even better.

Thank you for your time and help!
Charlie

Hi Charlie,
searching this forum for Folbot Super will yield lots of info.
Here is a thread on a restored Super:

Thank you for the reply Jon, that boat looks like an almost exact match.

That is a Super.
Either a TSK (kit) or a TSP (factory built).
The crossframes were made of, I believe, 9 layer marine plywood. I've forgotten what the longerons and combings were made of. Maple, ash?
The skin was vinyl. These days people use Sunshade or similar fabrics.
Sadly, all the info you'd need to restore a Super was on the old Folbot site which Eric took down with no warning such that we could have saved the info. RIP Folbot.

Hi flatwater,

Thank you for the reply, i ended up reaching out to Bob (bseese) who told me all about his restoration project including the materials used. I think your spot on with the model, i asked my father who had a hard time remembering what it is but he did say it was definitely a kit. That sucks that the old Folbot forum was taken down but lucky for me you guys are still on here, passing the knowledge along. :-)

Sorry i should have posted a reply to this topic letting everyone know that i found what i was looking for.

Thanks again for the help everyone!
Charlie
