Feathercraft web site offline

Post by westcoastwill »

Hi all Feathercraft owners and fans!

Just found out that Dough took the Feathercraft web site offline. I read a message before it happened, looks like his idea of semi retierement did not work out for him,
so he decided to quit everything untill further notice.

However, since he mentioned that he is thinking about reopening his site later, there is still a sliver of hope.

Good luck to anyone who needs a replacement part. The ribs on Feathercraft kayaks seem to be particularly damage prone. I wonder if anyone has ever cobbled one together from marine grade plywood instead of HDPE which is a lot more expensive. And then there’s that aircraft grade aluminum tubing. I don’t even want to think about replacing a section of that stuff. Almost makes me regret that I didn’t buy a Long Haul Ute and I might have if it didn’t weigh a hefty 51 pounds. Anybody out there want to buy a Kurrent 2.0 presently in perfect shape?

That’s somewhat reassuring. Seems that the parts replacement business has kept him busier than he wants to be in what, after all, is his retirement. Doug is a straight-up guy and I think that he decided to do this just to keep Feathercraft boats on the water.
