North-West Passage Anne Quéméré

Post by Fatfrog »

Anne Quéméré, a famous rower and adventurer in France will attempt the North-West Passage in the summer of 2013. The 2500 nm trip has never been done before by human propelled craft. She will paddle a Grand Narak II with custom fittings. That's quite an adventure ! The most tremendous challenge using folding kayak since Lindemann's Atlantic crossing in 1956 ??
She's still looking after the major sponsor of her adventure.
Here is her website :

Jon Waterman did a similar trip in 1997, documented in his book "Arctic Crossing: One Man's 2,000-Mile Odyssey Among the Inuit".

I have just bought the book by Waterman but I havn´t read i yet. But if I understand it right Waterman did his travel in severel different parts. Is she going to do it the same way, or will she do it in one singular voyage? (Please excuse if my spelling is poor...! :P )

Yes she plans to do the crossing in one summer. As there is less and less ice nowadays, it could be possible... She's actually training in Brittany and still looking for a major sponsorship
