Identify this Folbot

Post by Fritz »

Last year I bought a Folbot with the hull id number FLB00721F494, according to the Ohio registration card the seller gave me.

I was told by the seller that it was a 1994 Yukon, but it is only 12 ft. long not 13, so it is closer in length to an Aleut. The cockpit is 50" x 17. In an earlier thread, Flatwater wrote that the Aleut has a 47" x 20" which is much closer to the dimensions of my boat than the 59" x 20" of a Yukon.

Can anyone tell from the hull id number what boat it actually is?

Thanks,

Fritz

One sure way to differentiate between an Aleut and a Yukon is to look at the washboards. On an Aleut the port and starboard washboards will be one piece each. The Yukon has two-piece washboards, with a carriage bolt and star knob connecting the two pieces.

Unless you have an older Aleut with the polycarbonate washboards, they were hinged two-piece.

My boat, built in 1994 (last two digits in the hull id number are 94) has once piece aluminum washboards. So does that make it an Aleut?

Looking at the earlier query, "Help to Identify this Folbot" the answer from Flatwater posted on July 24 indicates that the deck spreaders on the boat in question mean its an Aleut. Mine has the same deck spreaders. More indication it's an Aleut, not a Yukon?

Opinions please.

In my opinion if you have one-piece aluminum washboards and your boat is 12' long it is an Aleut.

Thanks, photogoo, for correcting me. I had forgotten about the polycarbonate washboards. Perhaps flatwater might weigh in here. I do not know that any Yukons were made with polycarbonate washboards. I was under the impression that the Yukon was not introduced until after the switch to aluminum washboards.

Fritz, my Yukon also has deck spreaders but the above info is correct, if it's 12' with one piece washboards, it's an Aleut.
