Pakboat xt-16 without a deck?

Post by overland »

I have an xt-16 with a tandem deck. Can I paddle it solo without the deck? (I can't seem to find a solo deck).

You should be able to with little to no problem. If you're using the rear cockpit ( which I think would be best) your weight would be closer to the stern. You would want to trim the kayak by placing some weight towards the bow. Large flat type flexible bags used for carrying water would work well. Also, depending on the weather and paddling conditions you might want to put a cockpit cover on the vacant cockpit.
