Inflation bladders for Klepper Passat

Post by Bucko »

I am in need of 2 14' x 9" air bladders for my Klepper Passat. The 2 rubber bladders that I have for it are no longer repairable. Any body have any ideas on replacements or alternatives? I am trying to think out of the box but going no where.

I haven't had my Passat out in several years, I would suggest you compare the diameter of the Passat bladders with the AII bladders. Or the folks may be able to help.

I have found that float bags for white water canoeing are ideal for folders as they’re significantly larger than typical kayak bags. If they’re too big that’s not not a problem. They’ll expand into the spaces in the frame and hold in tight. Put them above cargo bags and they’ll keep the cargo from shifting.

Inflation bags are not that difficult to make. You can get the heat-sealable coated nylon and Boston type valves as well as instructions from this fellow who sells materials and kits for making inflatable packrafts (link below). I purchased such items from him to make replacement long skinny sponsons (about the same dimensions) for a couple of Pakboat folding kayaks.

Well, I ordered some material and valves from diypackraft. I am going to try and make the air sponsors myself. Materials are suppose to arrive late April so I hope to sail the Passat in May.

Try contacting the Factory in Hamburg, Germany. Try contacting Jing Jing Cui. They helped me with a recent air bladder issue I had with my Aerius II Expedition 520.
