The Housatonic River in CT's Berkshires

Post by tp@12594 »

The Housatonic River is a nice trip not far out of NYC.

We paddle the stretch between Falls Village and Bull's Bridge with the Klepper and our canoe. We haven't taken the Klepper out on the fast water at Cornwall but I don't think it would be a problem. That's a place where the big entertainment is watching plastic and aluminum boats richochete around the bend.

South of there along the river is Housatonic Meadows State Park and the town of Kent with places to put in and take out, camp or stop to relax. There are also some beautiful trails to hike: the AT, Pine Knob Loop at Housatonic Meadows.

Hey Ted,

If you have any trips planned for 2009, let me know. Two friends and I have recently purchased kayaks and are looking for fun. Thanks!
